Safety First

DO's and DONT's

Do not ever allow passengers, especially children, to ride with you until you are comfortable and proficient operating the Sea-Doo.

• Do not operate Sea-Doo in shallow water below your waist, in narrow channels less than 300 ft wide, or within 20 feet of the shore or launch location, as the jet pump may become clogged and cause engine to overheat or in worse cases, may severely damage or destroy the intake manifold, jet pump, & engine.   Sea-Doo Renters are liable for damages to Sea-Doo resulting from operating in shallow water, narrow channels, water less than 5 feet deep, & close to shore.

• Do not shut the motor off when the Sea-Doo is moving as you will have no control over the Sea-Doo – instead, let off the throttle slowly.

• Sea Doos must be at least 100 feet apart from each other (& all other watercraft) at all times. Although Sea Doos may come with a braking system, it takes longer to come to a complete stop on the water than it does in your car. Never follow directly behind another Sea Doo or get close to any vessel or boat. Sea Doos are equipped with wide-angle mirrors so you can see someone following 100 ft. behind you.   Most PWC accidents are preventable so long as operators comply with the 100 ft. distance rule.

• Continuously scan the water when operating a Sea Doo. Look left, right, behind, and in front before turning.  Never cut off other vessels.

• Personal Watercraft must be operated in a reasonable and prudent manner. Maneuvers that endanger life, limb, or property shall constitute reckless operation of a vessel and will result in the immediate termination of your rental, without refund. Reckless operation includes but is not limited to: 1.) Unreasonably or unnecessarily weaving through congested vessel traffic. 2. Jumping the wake of another vessel within 100 feet of such other vessel or when visibility around such other vessel is obstructed. 3. Intentionally approaching another vessel in order to swerve at the last possible moment to avoid a collision. 4. Operating contrary to the “rules of the road“ or following too closely to another vessel, including a PWC. “Following too closely,“ is defined by law as proceeding in the same direction of another vessel and operating at a speed in excess of 10mph when approaching within 100 feet to the rear or 50 feet to the side of another vessel that is underway unless that vessel is operating in a narrow channel, in which case a PWC may operate at the speed and flow of other vessel traffic. A narrow channel is defined as a segment of the that is 300 feet or less in width.

• Jordan Lake is patrolled by NC Wildlife officers. Failure to comply with NC’s boating rules and regulations could result in a ticket/fine or even arrest.  This includes DUIs for operating motorized boats, jetski’s, etc. while over the legal limit.  FNR has a Zero Tolerance alcohol/drug policy.

• Never steer hard in one direction and hold the throttle wide open while driving Sea-Doo (i.e. doing donuts). This will cause damage such as the motor to overheat, check engine light to come on, alarm to sound, error codes, or cause the Sea-Doo to go into “limp mode” not to mention someone could get hurt or fly out/off of the Sea-Doo. If the Sea-Doo is in good working condition when you take possession of it and you operate it in a manner that causes an alarm to sound, the check engine light to come on, an error code to be emitted, or causes the Sea-Doo to go in “limp mode” you are responsible for the repair costs.  Jetski renter’s insurance does not cover these damages listed or similar damage caused from or by misusing of the equipment.

• If engine fails, is not running correctly, or equipment gets damaged, contact the rental office immediately and stay with the equipment.  Do not attempt to restart engine if it fails or drive the Sea-Doo back to the launch site, as this may cause additional damage.  You are responsible for any damage caused by operating a Sea Doo when it’s not running correctly.

• Never attempt to “flip” the Sea-Doo or operate in a reckless manner as to cause the Sea-Doo to upside down, as water can get into the engine and require as many as 4-6 oil changes to get the water out. Flipped Sea Doos incur a minimum charge of $1700 and you will lose your deposit.  If the Sea-Doo is still not running correctly after water is removed, you will additionally be responsible for the parts and labor charges to repair the Sea-Doo (for example, if the engine needs to be replaced).  Flipped Sea-Doos are not covered by jetski renter/operator insurance.

• If you flip a Sea Doo, contact Float N Ride LLC rental office immediately. Do not allow anyone to tow the Sea-Doo if flips or has water in it.

• Sea Doo renters must observe and obey “No Wake” zones, meaning do not create a wake or wave behind you (i.e. Operate at idle speed/2-3 mph in “No Wake” zones). No wake zones are found near docks, beaches, and bridges and are indicated with an orange and white marker with a circle.

• A diamond-shaped marker alerts boaters to hazards. There are many shallow, rocky, & dangerous areas at Jordan lake.  Stay at least 100 feet from hazard buoys. Remember, Diamond=Danger.

• Uniform Waterway Markers define the channel connecting the middle of Jordan Lake and the north end of the lake (you will find channel markers when traveling between Farrington Point boat ramps & Crosswinds Marina).  ALL-RED BUOY indicates vessels should pass between it and its companion, an all green buoy. Keep red buoy on starboard (right) side when proceeding up stream or when entering a channel from the main body of water. Red buoys are used opposite, or in plain sight of, an all-green buoy to mark the edge of a well-defined channel. ALL-GREEN BUOY indicates vessels should pass between it and its companion, an all-red buoy. Keep green buoy on port (left) side when proceeding upstream, or when entering a channel from the main body of water.

• Never operate Sea Doo outside of the defined red and green channel markers even if you see other boats outside the markers. Jordan Lake is very shallow in some areas outside of the channel and there may be rocks, trees, and other hazards that are dangerous to jetskis and other V bottom boats.  Jetski insurance does not cover damages to Sea Doos caused from operating Sea Doo outside of the channel markers.

• Do not attempt to dock or park the Sea Doo at any boat docks, beach or marina during your rental.  If you must dock due to an emergency, use bumpers and/or exercise extreme care while keeping Sea Doo 6+ inches away from dock at all times.

• Stay at least 100 feet from hazard buoys & docks, as well as islands, shallow or dirty-looking water, or area where trees or tree roots are observed jutting out of the water as these can cause damage to the Sea-Doo hull, engine, and propeller system.

• No more than 2 persons are allowed on the 2-person Sea-Doo at any time, and the weight limit must not be exceeded.

• No more than 3 persons are allowed on the 3-person Sea-Doo at any one time, and the weight limit must not be exceeded.

No reschedules, refunds, or partial refunds will be given if the rental period is shortened or terminated due to renter error, illness, accident, changed mind, safety concerns/private lesson required or other non-weather-related reasons

Always use good judgment and air on the side of caution when operating rental equipment.  In the event of lightning, thunder, or other unexpected bad weather conditions during your rental, please return to the launch site if you are able to safely do so.  Otherwise, seek shelter in a safe location off the water & notify Float N Ride LLC of your whereabouts as soon as you are reasonably able.

Float N Ride LLC is not responsible for lost or damaged personal items including cell phones, keys, wallets, purses, money, sunglasses or other valuables

Do not litter or leave trash on/in your rental equipment.  A $25 cleaning fee will be imposed if we have to clean up after you or remove trash from the vessel.

Float N Ride LLC staff may take photos or videos of you and your guests’ rental activity, and share these photos with you.  Please alert Float N Ride LLC staff if you do not wish to have your photo taken and/or used for website and social media advertising.

  • A safety and operational briefing is provided and required before every Sea-Doo rental. We strongly encourage all Sea-Doo renters to have a boater’s license and/or to book a private Sea Doo lesson if you are new to jet skiing, or would like to practice with an experienced FNR crew member before operating a Sea Doo by yourself.  A free online boating course is available at:   http://boatus.org/northcarolina/

  • A private jet ski lesson is recommended for anyone with little or no jet ski experience, or who requires one on one training above and beyond the safety and operation briefing.  A private jet-ski lesson can be added upon request at an additional cost. Reservation Info and Policy

CHECK-IN

You must check in 30 minutes prior to your booking time to go over the mandatory safety briefing and gear up along with other important safety instructions before getting on the water. Float N’ Ride will not be responsible for you showing up late and the required briefing time will cut into your booked time. Once you arrive, we will begin the check-in process & safety instructions. This “prep time” should not be included in your actual riding time as long as you arrive on time. Arriving late could result in lost rental time on the water and a Float N Ride staff can assist with rescheduling your booking if you wish to do so. Be early.  Remember your tardiness will only create opportunities for other customers on the waitlist.  Your reservation time is your actual riding time. NB: Visa or MasterCard is required for a security deposit at the time of rental.

Reservations booked online or over the phone will be charged the full amount when the reservation is made. If you want to split payment between your group, each person should reserve their own individual jet ski. Each renter’s photo ID and credit card must match and will be verified upon check-in. You CANNOT use 1 credit card for multiple jet ski damage deposit unless it’s a spouse or child. For the most comfortable experience, we recommend 1 rider per jet ski. No sharing or switching of jetski drives unless accommodations have been made during reservation and check in. By default, a rental is for a single rider. An additional rider is $20.

WE DO NOT CANCEL RESERVATIONS BASED ON A WEATHER FORECAST INSTEAD WE DO CANCELLATIONS BASED ON REAL-TIME WEATHER RADAR. HOWEVER, IF it is forecasted that it will be a complete washout (70% or more) for the entire day, we MAY cancel all reservations for the day and keep all customers posted about possible rescheduling or cancellation.

SECURITY DEPOSIT

A $250 credit card mandatory deposit is required per vessel.

IF DAMAGE OCCURS

The renter/operator is responsible for any damage that occurs while operating the watercraft. The jet ski will be inspected before and after each use for damage. Repair for damages will be at the renter/operator’s expense, up to the replacement value of the watercraft. If repair costs and lost time are excessive, the renter has the option to purchase a comparable jetski/pwc at NADA value. Reimbursement to FNR due to damage may occur for lost rental time if the damage is excessive enough to render the jet ski unrentable/inoperable until repaired. This fee is $250 per day until the jet ski is repaired and available for rental. All equipment should be in good working condition for your rental; however in the event, your equipment is damaged or broken, notify FNR staff before accepting possession. Renters are liable for repair or replacement costs of rental equipment, life jackets, & accessories that are lost or stolen during their rental, or returned damaged or broken.  Renter’s Insurance is available for all rental activities. You are responsible for the full cost of damage.  Damage cost can be up to the replacement value of the watercraft up to $13,000.  We highly recommend adding damage protection to your rental to reduce your liability. We will contact you upon receiving a quote for the total cost of repair if the said quote is estimated over the security deposit.

Security deposit is 100% refundable if the vessel/pwc is returned in the same condition that it left our docks. Deposit refunds can take up to 7-10 business days after the completion of the rental to return to your account. WITHOUT A DEPOSIT, YOU CANNOT RENT A JET SKI

Additional renters/drivers within your group will be required to provide their own damage deposit for the jet ski they will be operating.  Spouses & children of renters may provide only 1 credit card however siblings & friends may not “share” a credit card or cover deposits for other people.

RENTER’S INSURANCE

Renter’s insurance covers accidental damage to rental equipment – it does not cover lost or stolen equipment, 3rd party property damage, or equipment damage due to renter negligence.  Examples of mishaps not covered by renter insurance:

• Damage to Sea-Doo caused from or by “beaching it” (driving, operating, or parking on or near a beach) or operating in too shallow of water

• Standing on a paddleboard while it is still on the beach & causing fin to crack or break

• Lost whistle, lifevest, or any equipment; lost or damaged personal items

• Flipped Sea Doo or misuse/abuse of Sea-Doo resulting in error codes, check engine light enabled, or ‘limp mode’ activation

OVERTIME OR LATE RETURN

It is your responsibility to keep up with your rental time. Renters who are 1-15 minutes late returning equipment will be charged $85 late fee.  Renters 16-30 minutes late will be charged $160 late return fee. Renters 31-45 minutes late will be $275 late fee and renters who are 46 minutes late – 1 hour late will be charged $350 late return fee. *Late Rentals past 1 hour are charged $1000 daily, up to the replacement cost of the equipment minute.

We don’t want to charge you, but there are other people waiting for their turn on your jet ski and it is disrespectful and unfair to them and causes us to have to endure their displeasure and potentially lose their business due to cancellations when you are late!

PAYMENT & TAX

Taxes are an additional 6.99% (in North Carolina) of the posted rates and apply to all rentals. Payment can be made with any major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express) or cash. All credit card transactions are subject to an additional 4.25% fee.
